2:25 AM - 31 January 2014 ( 0 Votes )
The scenic northeast Indian state of Sikkim has been named the best region to visit in 2014 by Lonely Planet, a leading global travel guide. A little over 5 years ago I made a three month journey to India and was fortunate enough to be able to travel to the region of Sikkim. This short 25 minute film documents my travels with Rico Zook international permaculture teacher who travels parts of Sikkim working with NGOS and communities around using permaculture. Sikkim was what James Hilton might have imagined when he wrote Lost Horizon, a true portal into an unknown world. Put it on your bucketlist if you want to get closer to Heaven before you die.

Now 40+ years later Ive come across the The Global Village Construction Set via a project by MARCIN JAKUBOWSKI of Open Source Ecology - The Global Village Construction Set (GVCS) is a modular, DIY, low-cost, high-performance platform that enables fabrication of the 50 different Industrial Machines that it takes to build a small, sustainable civilization with modern comforts. Its exciting to see open source going from software creation to hardware creation. For more on Farm Hacking check out

The Windmill Farmer

9:36 PM - 5 December 2012 ( 0 Votes )

This film was inspired while driving back from a trip to Palm Springs, when a friend said that it must take them forever to plant and grow so many windmills. I wrote down the title The Windmill Farmer for an idea to explore later, and about a year later I started developing it into a character and story. - Joaquin Baldwin Filmmaker Animator

After watching this short film I could not help but remember this  image from artist Aleksandar Rodic.
