I have fond memories when I was a child of creating unique creations from Lincoln Logs, Legos and my favorite the Erector Set. Now 40+ years later Ive come across the The Global Village Construction Set via a project by MARCIN JAKUBOWSKI of Open Source Ecology - The Global Village Construction Set (GVCS) is a modular, DIY, low-cost, high-performance platform that enables fabrication of the 50 different Industrial Machines that it takes to build a small, sustainable civilization with modern comforts. Its exciting to see open source going from software creation to hardware creation. For more on Farm Hacking check out

A nurturing farmer in is danger of losing his crop of windmills when he struggles against the cyclical forces of nature.

This film was inspired while driving back from a trip to Palm Springs, when a friend said that it must take them forever to plant and grow so many windmills. I wrote down the title The Windmill Farmer for an idea to explore later, and about a year later I started developing it into a character and story. - Joaquin Baldwin Filmmaker Animator

After watching this short film I could not help but remember this  image from artist Aleksandar Rodic.

If there was a model for Brave New Earth and what I envision doing with videoblogging this is a great example of backpack broadcasting. -- Going Off The Grid with Masa.  A Journalist from Vancouver Canada integrates himself for one year into an existing off-grid community in Haida Gwaii, a small island off the coast of British Columbia. My proposal is not only to go off grid but to do many more DIY type projects as well as Permaculture and new innovations in Farming and Farm Hacking.  Watch the whole Masa Off Grid Video Series here.
